For wet applications or areas that require rapid cure, use StarCure® Urethane
Grout Cure Accelerator. These applications can include:
• When accelerated cure is needed
• In damp environments such as:
- Showers
- All mud beds
- All outdoor installations
- High humidity environments
- Seasonal dew
- Steam showers
Urethane Grout Technology (UGT), by its nature, cures via an air-dry process. This process is variable due to the forces of nature; namely, temperature and humidity. Normal cure time for Urethane Grouts is 72 hours; however, environmental conditions and other factors can extend the cure time significantly depending on the application. To solve these problems, we developed StarCure® Urethane Grout cure accelerator to tackle damp environments and to offer faster cure times.
Mud beds in particular can be a challenging application. Tile is often applied over a partially cured mud bed, forcing moisture to escape from the grout joints. This will interfere with Urethane grout’s ability to cure properly. In most applications it is not possible to wait for the mud bed to cure completely, we recommend the use of StarCure® for all mud bed applications.
In many commercial applications, crews will grout at night making the job ready for use in the morning. We recommend StarCure® for these installations and other jobs that require faster cure.
StarCure® Urethane Grout Cure Accelerator is available in tear-away foil packages for use with Quartz-Lock® Grout. Typical usage for Quartz-Lock Grout is as follows:
• One #9 packet per 1-gallon unit
• One #18 packet per 2-gallon unit

StarCure® actual results may vary with particular environmental conditions and other factors.
Tear package open and empty contents into the bucket of Quartz-Lock® Grout. Use a drill mixer on high for 1 minute to fully incorporate StarCure into the grout.
Follow Urethane Grout installation instructions from that point, remembering that your working time is greatly reduced.
• Protect grout from stains and chemicals during the cure process.
• In shower repairs, thoroughly remove all existing grout from joints and then clean joints with isopropyl alcohol before re-grout.
• Any unused Quartz-Lock® Grout that has had StarCure added to it cannot be re-sealed and re-used (unlike Quartz-Lock Grout without StarCure).
• In outdoor applications, wait 7 days before cleaning.
• Do not use solvent-based adhesives or sealers.
• Do not use vinegar or acid solutions for clean up during the curing process.
• Only use supplied citrus cleaning additive to remove grout haze.
• Always use protective clothing (gloves and eye protection) when working with grout.
• For Chemical Emergency, call CHEMTREC (24 hours/day), (800) 424-9300 North America, (703) 527-3887 International (collect)
